San Diego County: The Perfect Family Getaway

San Diego is consistently rated as one of the top family travel destinations in North America. SAN DIEGO COUNTY Just across the Big Bay from downtown San Diego is Coronado, the "Crown City," site of the famous Hotel del Coronado. Heading south to the Mexican border, South Bay cities include National City, Chula Vista and Imperial Beach. Just north are Torrey Pines State Reserve and Del Mar, a horse racing fan's paradise. Seaside communities, from Del Mar and Carlsbad to Oceanside, offer village charm, boutique shopping and fine dining. The East County region and alpine Laguna Mountains are where visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, camping, fishing, mountain climbing and sledding in the winter. The delightful mountain community of Julian is famous for its annual Julian Fall Apple Harvest. The 600,000-acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, one of the richest living museums in the country.
